CODE OF CONDUCT

BE KIND

Aeronaut Brewing Company is a brewery and community space in Somerville, MA and Everett, MA. We exist to push the boundaries of beer through fearless recipe design powered by house-cultured fermentations. Our mission is to brew world-class beer, amplify the voice of our community, and support arts and culture.

We believe that investing in a diverse and versatile group of individuals, in which everyone’s differences are amplified and honored, is the proper way to build a strong, unified team at Aeronaut. We strive for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion – and acknowledge the work before us to create a more diverse and equitable space not only within our own company, but within our industry.

We understand that comprehensive and effective justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion practices extend beyond the hiring and selection process and bleed into the everyday life of our company. In that vein, we at Aeronaut commit to the following:

  • Respectful and cooperative communication between all employees in all scenarios.
  • Responsible practices concerning professional expectations and work-life balance.
  • Commitment to our community through local volunteer initiatives and contribution opportunities.
  • Development of robust training and development programs for all teams and employees.
  • Investment in teamwide education and awareness of sensitivity and anti-racist work.
  • Maintaining open communication and open minds so that the conversation on diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity is never closed.

We also believe that we must be able to provide our employees with a safe and secure place to come to work each day in order for them to flourish as workers and as individuals. We hold every one of our employees to a standard in which we prohibit any intentional or accidental discrimination or harassment on the basis of actual or perceived race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, disability, religion, marital status, veteran status, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age. We want our employees to feel confident in knowing that it is Aeronaut policy to prohibit harassment of any employee by any supervisor, employee, customer, or vendor on the basis of sex or gender identity. Our goal is to ensure that Aeronaut employees understand that any form of harassment, including sexual harassment, is simply not acceptable. In addition to understanding the type of behavior we expect from our employees, vendors, and customers, it is also important that our employees understand the tools at their disposal for reporting said behavior in the unfortunate event it becomes necessary.

Any employee who believes that they have experienced behavior from a supervisor, another employee, vendor, or customer that violates our discrimination or harrasment policies should report this behavior immediately. Here are the ways to do so:

  • You can report harassment to your direct supervisor who will help you report to the company’s Harassment Officer; however, we understand that sometimes you may feel hesitant about reporting to your supervisor or that person may be involved in the harassment. In that instance you should go directly to your Harassment Officer.
  • Your Harassment Officer is our HR Manager. HR can always be reached via [email protected] or you can reach out directly through contact information found in the Employee Handbook. You can always make an internal report directly to your Harassment Officer.
  • In the event that you would like to make a report through a third-party, that option is also available to you at Aeronaut. We partner with WeVow and through this partnership every employee is able to make anonymous reports through their WeVow account.

We expect at all times* for every single one of our employees to treat all other employees with dignity and respect. This also means we expect respectful and cooperative communication between all employees in all scenarios. We are committed to fostering a safe, fun environment, in which employees can learn professional skills, grow as individuals, and explore the endless possibilities of beer together. We cannot achieve that goal without full commitment from our employees to cultivate a safe workplace. If any employee exhibits any inappropriate conduct or behavior against another employee (consciously or otherwise) that goes against the expectations laid out in this Code of Conduct they may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Aeronaut Brewing Company is a special place because our team members care deeply about each other’s wellbeing. This makes the beer better, the events more fun, and the trials and tribulations of small-business life more bearable. By committing to this Code of Conduct, we are all committing to supporting each other’s ability to be the best that we can be in our workplace. Together, we will continue to identify where we need to improve as a team and a company and we will strive to do so in accordance with this Code, using it as a guide whenever and wherever we can.

* “At all times” includes but is not limited to:

  • on the clock or off the clock,
  • on the brewhouse or sitting at the bar,
  • at one of our events with a coworker or with a vendor in a liquor store.
